BIOGRAPHY

Nora Barquin has a deep understanding of the Latino immigrant experience and provides counseling services in both Spanish and English. Her clinical interests include supporting individuals and families as they navigate life changes related to a cancer diagnosis, as well as helping clients reduce and manage anxiety and stress through mindfulness-based practices.

As a Spanish-speaking therapist, Nora builds meaningful connections with clients from diverse backgrounds by creating a safe, welcoming environment where language, culture, and personal values are respected and honored. Her personal understanding of the immigrant experience enables her to offer compassionate, culturally responsive support while recognizing both the challenges and the resilience that come with adapting to a new culture.

In addition to providing individual counseling, Nora offers mindfulness meditation consultations and teaches mindfulness-based programs. She is currently leading a five-week introductory Mindfulness Meditation course in both English and Spanish. Nora holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Loyola University Chicago and is a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher.
