BIOGRAPHY
Dr Sunita Rai is a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, certified mindfulness teacher, clinical supervisor, lecturer, author, and founder of Holistic Psychotherapy Centre and The Academy of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Singapore.
With more than two decades of experience in mental health, psychotherapy, mindfulness, supervision, and professional training, Dr Rai has played an active role in advancing integrative approaches to psychological wellbeing across Singapore and Asia. Her work sits at the intersection of clinical psychology, mindfulness, trauma-informed practice, and wellbeing science, with a strong focus on translating psychological knowledge into meaningful, practical, and sustainable change.
Dr Rai is the creator of the Integrated Wellbeing Model (IWM) and Mindfulness-Oriented Counselling and Psychotherapy (MOCP), and co-developer of Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing Enhancement (MBWE) and Positive Performance Leadership (PPL). These models reflect her ongoing commitment to developing evidence-informed, culturally responsive, and integrative frameworks that support emotional, cognitive, relational, behavioural, and eudaimonic wellbeing.
Her clinical and professional experience spans diverse settings, including schools, family service centres, prisons, healthcare contexts, corporate organisations, higher education institutions, and community-based mental health programmes. She has worked extensively with individuals, couples, families, professionals, and organisations, bringing depth, clarity, and compassion to complex psychological, relational, and systemic concerns.
As a speaker, trainer, lecturer, and supervisor, Dr Rai contributes actively to the development of mental health professionals through teaching, supervision, curriculum development, and professional education. She presents at conferences, facilitates training programmes, and teaches internationally on topics related to mindfulness, psychotherapy, integrative wellbeing, trauma-informed care, supervision, leadership, and applied psychology.
Dr Rai is also the author of three books on mindfulness and wellbeing and is currently completing her fourth. Across her clinical work, teaching, writing, and programme development, she continues to champion a vision of psychological care that is evidence-based, deeply human, and grounded in awareness, compassion, resilience, and conscious living.
